I find this helpful because sometimes I don’t have time to run to the store to grab some sugar, or maybe you or someone you know are allergic to it. It also gives a good flavor.

If you are out of honey, and you can use sugar, just swap the sides and go from honey to sugar!

The Best Milk, Heavy Cream etc. substitutes

For Regular Milk: Almond Milk, Soy Milk, Coconut Milk (1:1)

For Heavy Cream: Full-Fat Coconut Cream, Cashew Cream, Oil and Milk; 2/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup oil or melted margarine (The rest are 1:1)

Evaporated Milk: Almond milk (It will give small coconut flavor) add 1 Tbsp cornstarch, 1:1

Sour Cream: Plain Greek (or a dairy-free yogurt) yogurt; 1 cup yogurt, 1 tsp baking soda, Coconut milk, 1:1

Butter: In cakes and such, 1:1 oil, for icings use margarine. But I will remind you, in ANY recipe, like cookies or a lemon loaf cake, where it says to cream the butter with another ingredient please use butter because oil will not end up light and fluffy like butter will.b Or 1 mashed avocado for 1/2 cup butter.

What is it?

Turbinado Sugar: It’s partially refined sugar that retains some of the original molasses from the sugarcane and has a subtle caramel flavor. You can substitute unrefined cane sugar for it, most people use it for a crunchy, sweet topping on desserts.
